Last autumn, French pianist Alexandre Kantorow visited Japan as a soloist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra led by Klaus Mäkelä, delivering a brilliant performance of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1 that garnered widespread acclaim.

Kantorow will return to Japan this coming autumn, not only to join the NHK Symphony Orchestra under Tugan Sokhiev but also to embark on a nationwide solo recital tour.

At the heart of his recital program lies Beethoven’s Sonata No. 32, Op. 111. This monumental masterpiece is paired with a rarely-performed sonata by Russian composer Medtner as well as pieces by Liszt and Chopin. One cannot help but be intrigued by the soundscape this carefully crafted program will create.
