KAJIMOTO is delighted to welcome Japanese bassist, composer and producer Ryu Kawamura to the roster.

Ryu Kawamura became the first Japanese musician and the youngest ever to win the Grand Prize in the jazz category at the International Double Bass Festival 2004. He has since collaborated with renowned musicians worldwide such as Duško Gojković, Mike Starn, Bill Mays, and John Di Martino, and has performed in the Blue Note Tokyo All-Star Jazz Orchestra. Besides his career as a performer, he is active in a wide range of fields especially as a producer, composer, and an arranger.

Ryu Kawamura is also a highly popular YouTuber and streamer under the name Meat Takeshi. A video he released in 2023, titled “Why Doesn’t Jazz Get Popular? A Masterful Explanation by the Youngest Ever World Champion Double Bassist,” has garnered over 630,000 views to date.
