Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra & Music Director Christian Arming Announced 2026/07 Season Lineup! Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra & Music Director Christian Arming Announced 2026/07 Season Lineup!

The Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra (HSO) led by Austrian conductor Christian Arming announced the orchestra’s 2026/07 season lineup.
Arming became HSO’s Principal Guest Conductor in 2017 and has served as the Music Director since 2024.
The following message from Arming reveals the highlights of their upcoming 2026/07 season:
Dear Friends of HSO,
Soon we will wrap up my second season as Music Director of Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra and it is time to give a preview of what the near future holds for you and your wonderful orchestra, the HSO.
In the new upcoming season 2026/27, the Discovery Series will feature the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death. To commemorate this musical giant, we will start a cycle of performing all of his nine symphonies within the next two seasons. These programs will be paired in the season 2026/27 with modern compositions by contemporary composers, who live in or are strongly connected with Beethoven’s residence town Vienna, Austria, which is also my home city. Don’t be afraid of modern music. I have chosen modern pieces which are very emotionally passionate and will speak to your heart as they do to mine.
The main theme of the upcoming season will be “STORIES”. The musicians of HSO and I will tell you tales from around the world like the “Little Mermaid”, “Don Juan”, “Pulcinella”, “Scheherazade” and many more.
Let us surprise you. We also have invited world class soloists to play together with HSO like Viktoria Mullova, Edicson Luiz, Makoto Ozone, Reinhold Friedrich and many others.
HSO also has a rich history of stories and we look forward to sharing the wonders of music with you in the future. The HSO team and I are looking forward to the next season with great joy and enthusiasm and hope that you will join us at our concerts full of passion and love.
Best wishes, yours,
Christian Arming, HSO Music Director
