For over sixty years now, I Musici have been coming to Japan every two years to perform concerts. The first time was in the early 1960s, when the country was undergoing enormous economic, technological and social development, and since then, over all these years, we have come to know and appreciate the Japanese people. Having practically visited the whole country over the years, all the members of the group, except for the most recent ones, have visited Hiroshima Peace Park at least once, an experience that always leaves us deeply moved.
Japan is the only country to have experienced the cruel power of nuclear weapons, and 2025 marks 80 years since those terrible events.
While we were thinking about and planning this significant tour, during one of our studio rehearsals, where we get together not only to study but also to spend time together and discuss many topics, we thought that the time had come to create an initiative that, through music, our favourite language, could commemorate that event with the aim of celebrating peace, so that nothing like this ever happens again in the history of humanity.
Thus, in a very spontaneous way, the “International Call for Scores 2025, Notes for Peace” was born, so that from the memory of a tragic event something beautiful may arise to be passed on to future generations, a creation of the human mind born from the inspiration of composers who, like us, nurture the same desire for peace, to be spread through music.
To our great joy, we have received 37 new compositions created from the hearts and minds of authors from many countries, 37 bridges of hope for a truly better world for all of us. From among them, we selected Antonio Marcotullio’s “The Two Flowers” and will world-premiere it during our coming Japanese tour.
We invite you to have the experience of listening to Vivaldi’s music, our specialty, this time filled with prayer.
