Tugan Sokhiev & Munich Philharmonic & Aimi Kobayashi: Tokyo Concerts in Nov 2024 Tugan Sokhiev & Munich Philharmonic & Aimi Kobayashi: Tokyo Concerts in Nov 2024

One of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, the Munich Philharmonic from southern Germany is coming back to Japan this November 2024.
The orchestra’s Asian tour will be led by Ossetian maestro Tugan Sokhiev, former Music Director of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre and of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, who also spends several weeks each season with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo.

They will perform two concerts of two highly contrastive programs – a Russian music program & a Bruckner No. 8 program— in Suntory Hall, Tokyo, featuring soloist Aimi Kobayashi, the 4th prize winner at the 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition, playing Rachmaninov’s virtuosic Paganini Rhapsody.
The Munich Philharmonic, founded in 1893, has built up their solid international reputation with their Bruckner performances, since Ferdinand Löwe (1865-1925), Bruckner’s favored pupil, famously served as the orchestra’s chief conductor and established their Bruckner tradition. The world has been celebrating the 200th anniversary of Bruckner’s birth this year.

We hope as many music-lovers as possible can experience these precious occasions.
