











Yosuke Onuma
Originally from Akita, Japan, Yosuke Onuma is a jazz-based guitarist who brings the world together through his sound. His music encompasses different influences and experiences he has received while travelling various countries.
He was the Grand Prize winner at the Gibson Jazz Guitar Competition 1999. He released his major debut album on Sony Music Japan in 2001.
In 2004, he recorded his fourth album The Three Primary Colors in New York as a trio with Richard Bona (bass) and Ari Hoenig (drums). He showed a unique musical world with his album Jam Ka (2010) featuring the Guadeloupean folk music “Gwo ka” and its “Ka” drums.
In 2016, he released the album Jam Ka Deux recorded in Paris, which brought him opportunities to perform at jazz clubs in Paris and Munich, Martinique Jazz festival, and Festival Eritaj held in Guadeloupe, the home of Gwo ka.
His most recent recording is his first solo album Your Smile.
