Wiener Ring-Ensemble
The ensemble, which was named after the characteristic and superb “Ring” which surrounds the Old Town of Vienna, has been formed to perform essentially music from Vienna. It was built around Rainer Küchl, then the Concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and is composed of 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 double-bass, 1 flute, 1 horn and 2 clarinets, all some of the best players of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Their performances of waltzes and polkas by the Strauss family, Ziehrer and Lanner communicate to the audience the love and pride that the musicians feel for Vienna, and fill them with a feeling of uttermost happiness.
Since 1999, the Wiener Ring-Ensemble has been performing every year at the Brahms Salle of Vienna Musikverein in the context of the End of Year Concert, and their performance is adored by the people of Vienna. In 2002, they were invited by the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
They were invited to Japan for the first time in 1991 and have been coming almost every year since 1993. Just after their performance at the “Vienna Philharmonic New Year Concert”, they fly straight to Japan to give a New Year Concert and bring to their Japanese fans a sound and smell which are exactly that of Vienna.
In 1998, they were invited to give 2 performances at the Cultural and Artistic Festival of the Nagano Olympics.
