Alexander Malofeev
Alexander Malofeev studied at legendary institutions such as the Gnessin Special College of Music and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.
In 2014, at the age of only thirteen, Alexander Malofeev won the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. Quickly hailed by critics as a “young Russian genius” (Corriere della Sera), he has since
established himself as one of the most remarkable pianists of his generation.
Alexander Malofeev has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, hr-Sinfonieorchester, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London. He regularly collaborates with renowned conductors like Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung, Susanna Mälkki, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Lahav Shani, Alain Altinoglu, Lionel Bringuier, Hannu Lintu, Vasily Petrenko, and Andris Poga.
In recent seasons, he has given concerts and recitals in major concert halls such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Vienna Musikverein, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Lotte Concert Hall Seoul, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, and the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman.
Alexander Malofeev is a frequent guest at international festivals and renowned piano series, among them La Roque d'Anthéron and La Folle Journée in Nantes, the Klavierfestival Ruhr, the Master Pianist Series in Amsterdam and at Carnegie Hall, the Salzburg Festival, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Verbier Festival, the Tanglewood Festival, as well as the Celebrity Series in Boston, USA.
At the start of the 2026/27 season, he will go on tour with the Filarmonica della Scala. At the end of the year, he will make his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Kirill Petrenko. Further highlights of the season include his debut as soloist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, his performance with the Orchestre National de Paris under the direction of Andris Poga, and an extensive Germany tour with the Bergen Philharmonic.
Alexander Malofeev is an exclusive artist of SONY Classical. For his solo album "Forgotten Melodies," he was awarded the OPUS Klassik in 2026 in the category "Young Artist of the Year."
Born in Moscow in 2001, he now resides in Berlin.
