Boris Berezovsky has established a great reputation, both as the most powerful of virtuoso pianists and as a musician gifted with a unique insight and great sensitivity.
Born in Moscow, Boris Berezovsky studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Eliso Virsaladze and privately with Alexander Satz.  Subsequent to his London debut at Wigmore Hall in 1988, The Times described him as ‘an artist of exceptional promise, a player of dazzling virtuosity and formidable power’.  Two years later, he won the Gold Medal at the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.
Boris Berezovsky is regularly invited by such prominent orchestras as Berliner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Dresden, Munich Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra, Hungarian National Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra (London), Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome), Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and New York Philharmonic.  He is also a frequent guest on the recital stages in the Philharmonie Berlin, Vienna Konzerthaus, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Royal Festival Hall (London), Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Salle Pleyel (Paris), Palais des Beaux Arts (Brussels) as well as at the Verbier, Salzburg and la Roque d’Anthéron festivals.
With Teldec, Boris Berezovsky has recorded works of Balakirev, Chopin, Liszt, Medtner, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninov, Ravel and Schumann.  His recording of the Rachmaninov sonatas was awarded the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and his Ravel disc was recommended by Le Monde de la Musique, Diapason and BBC Music Magazine.  He won a BBC Music Magazine Award – Instrumental Category for his Chopin/Godowsky recording.
Boris Berezovsky’s discography on Mirare includes Rachmaninov Preludes as well as the complete Rachmaninov piano concertos with the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Dmitri Liss, and another CD for two pianos dedicated to Rachmaninov with Brigitte Engerer.  A Liszt album was released in January 2010; this was recorded live at the Royal Festival Hall and at La Grange de Meslay in Tours.  His recording of Saint-Saëns’s Carnaval des Animaux with Brigitte Engerer and Henri Demarquette won Choc de la Musique of the Year 2010.
Boris Berezovsky has also recorded chamber music with his partners in chamber music.  These include Vadim Repin, Dmitri Makhtin, Alexander Kniazev and the Borodin Quartet.  Their CDs have been awarded a Diapason d’Or, Choc de la Musique and ECHO.
Recent and upcoming engagements include performances with the Russian National Orchestra (Pletnev), Orchestre de Paris and (Boreyko), Les Siècles (Roth), Hong Kong Philharmonic (van Zweden) as well as tours in Asia with the NHK Symphony Orchestra and in Europe with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (Sokhiev).  He also gives recitals at Royal Festival Hall (London), Théâtre des Champs-Elysées (Paris) and Suntory Hall (Tokyo).
Boris Berezovsky has been Artistic Director of Pianoscope Beauvais since 2013.
