Born in Vienna, Till Fellner studied with Helene Sedo-Stadler before going on to study privately with Alfred Brendel, Meira Farkas, Oleg Maisenberg and Claus-Christian Schuster. He first gained international recognition by winning first prize at the prestigious Clara Haskil International Competition in 1993.
Till Fellner has already performed with many famous orchestras, amongst
them The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Camerata
Salzburg, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra,
Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Vienna Philharmonic,
Vienna Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra London, and the London
Philharmonic Orchestra under conductors including Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus
Harnoncourt, Heinz Holliger, Marek Janowski, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir
Neville Marriner, Kent Nagano, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Leonard Slatkin, Claudius
Traunfellner, Franz Welser-Möst, and Hans Zender. His chamber music
partners have included, amongst others, the Alban Berg Quartet, Lisa Batiashvili,
Adrian Brendel, Mark Padmore and Heinrich Schiff, with whom he recorded
Beethoven’s complete works for Cello and Piano for Philips Classics.
His career has taken him to musical centres throughout Europe, North and South America, Australia, and Japan, as well as appearing at some of the worlds’ most important Festivals such as the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Wiener Festwochen, Mozartwoche Salzburg, Salzburg Festival, Mostly Mozart Festival New York, Tanglewood Festival, Festival de La Roque d’Antheron, Festival Montreux-Vevey, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, and the Edinburgh International Festival.
Highlights of the last season included a tour with London’s Philharmonia
Orchestra under Christoph von Dohnányi, a cycle of selected Mozart
piano concertos with the Wiener Kammerphilharmonie at the Vienna Konzerthaus,
and performances of Schubert’s last three piano sonatas at venues throughout
Europe including London, Vienna, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp and at the
Schubertiade Schwarzenberg.
In the upcoming season 2006-07 Till Fellner will appear in orchestra concerts
in Montréal, Paris, München, London, Wien, Budapest, Tokio
etc. under the baton of conductors as Kent Nagano, Sylvain Cambreling,
Philippe Jordan, Sir Neville Marriner and Zoltán Kocsis. Further
highlights are a duo tour with Heinrich Schiff and solo recitals in many
European and North American cities.
Till Fellner has recorded numerous CDs including the first book of Bach’s “The Welltempered Klavier” which was released by ECM Records in 2004.
