Argentinean pianist Ingrid Fliter, the 2006 Gilmore Artist, has been noted
for her uncanny musicality, natural sensitivity and elegance in performances
throughout the world since her career was launched at the age of 16 at
the Teatro Colón in her native Buenos Aires. Following a 2003 recital at
the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, her U.S. recital debut, Tim Page
in the Washington Post wrote that Ms. Fliter demonstrated “assured and
discriminating musical intelligence yoked to a stage personality of unusual
warmth and charm.”
Born in Buenos Aires in 1973, Ms. Fliter began her piano studies in Argentina with Elizabeth Westerkamp. In 1992 she continued her studies with Vitalj Margulis in the Musikhochschule fur Musik in Freiburg, Germany, in 1994 in Rome with Carlo Bruno, and since 1996 has studied at the Academy “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola under the leadership of Franco Scala and Boris Petrushansky. In 1994 Ms. Fliter won First Prize in the Classic and Romantic categories at the International Competition for Piano and Orchestra “Citta di Cantu” in Italy, and in 1998 was a prizewinner in the “Ferruccio Busoni” Competition in Bolzano, Italy. She was awarded the second prize in the 2000 International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
Ms. Fliter's intensive concert activity has taken her to concert halls
worldwide including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo,
Kennedy Center in Washington, Lincoln Center in New York, National Gallery
in Washington, Liszt Conservatory Hall in Budapest, Philharmonia in San
Petersburg, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Alte Oper in Frankfurt,
Teatro Comunale of Ferrara, Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Teatro
Municipal de Chile, Grosses Festspiele-Haus in Salzburg and the Kölner
Philharmonie in Cologne. Ms. Fliter has worked with conductors Zoltán Kocsis,
Eije Oue, Alexei Dmitriev, Phillip Entremont, Inoue, Alan Gilbert, Carlos
Miguel Prieto among others. Her performances as soloist with orchestras
have included the Berliner Symphoniker, Hungarian National Philharmonic,
National Symphonic and National Philharmonic Orchestras of Buenos Aires,
Orchestra Sinfonica G. Verdi di Milano, Orchestre National de Lille, Orpheus
Chamber Orchestra of New York, Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife, St. Petersburg
Symphonic Orchestra, The Netherlands Philharmonic, Kanazawa Philhamonic
Orchestra and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. In Japan she participated
several times in “The World Pianists Series” with renowned pianists Alfred
Brendel, Radu Lupu, Maurizio Pollini and Martha Argerich. Her Tokyo recital
in Kioi Hall was broadcast by NHK Television and Communications.
Ms. Fliter has participated in music festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival and School, La Roque D'Antheron, the Prague Autumn Festival, “Feast in the East” in Tiszadob, Hungary, the Antonin Festival in Poland, “From Bach to Bartók” festival in Italy, Festival Pianistico Internazionale Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli in Italy, and the Espinho Festival in Portugal. She has given chamber music performances with Zoltán Kocsis and the Amadinda Percussion Group of Budapest, with clarinetist Anton Dressler at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and at Mittelfest in Cividale, Italy.
Ms. Fliter has recently made her debut with an American Orchestra performing the Haydn D Major Concerto with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under Donald Runnicles and toured the Netherlands with the Enschede Orchestra under Carlos Miguel Prieto, and will perform the Beethoven fifth Piano Concerto with the Orchestra of the Nations conducted by Justus Franz at the Concertgebouw in March. She also performs the Beethoven First Concerto with Lawrence Foster and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, and will make several appearances at the 2006 Gilmore International Keyboard Festival in Kalamazoo, Michigan during the first week of May. She will also appear at the Miami International Piano Festival in Florida and in Lecce, Italy and give recitals in Gibraltar and Buenos Aires.
