Francois Leleux won the International Competition of TOULON and MUNICH, second Prize in the International Competition of MANCHESTER and PRAGUE, and the Special Prize at the International Competition of Trieste. He has been awarded the European JUVENTUS Prize.
Leleux has built up a solo career in Europe, Asia and the United States.He
has played at the Berlin Philharmonic with the Deutsches Symphonieorchester,
at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées with the French National
Orchestra, at Bunkamara with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and at the
Lincoln Center as part of the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Halle orchestra
in Manchester, but he also plays as a soloist in the company of such prestigious
artists as , Boulez, Jansons, C Davis, M.W. Chung , Sawallisch, A. Gilbert
,Th Dausgaard, Bronfmann, Isserlis, Mullova , Pahud, Engerer etc....
François LELEUX was six years old when he began studying the oboe
with Professor Pierron at the Roubaix Conservatoire. He entered the Conservatoire
National Supérieur de Musique in Paris when he was fourteen, initially
in Pierre Pierlot's class, and then with Maurice Bourgue. After brilliantly
winning First Prizes for the Oboe and Chamber Music.
Following his enriching experiences with the European Community Youth Orchestra/Claudio Abbado, and also with the French National Opera, François Leleux became the first oboe soloist at the Paris Opera when he was still only 18. 3 years later he took the solo position in the Bavarian radio S. orchestra and then with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
Since 2002 he has been the artistic director and conductor of the ensemble del arte in Neuburg and he has now been appointed Professor at the Hochschule fur Musik, Munich.
François Leleux regularly performs in chamber music events all over
the world, with Les vents Francais, or again with the Paris Bastille Wind
Octet which was awarded the First International Prize for Chamber Music
by the City of Paris just one month after its formation.
